The ELV-R regulation has recently adopted a definition for plastics (Article 3) excluding thermoset materials, with the exception of PU. Although the thermoset composite material suppliers are relieved from any mandatory recycled content or recyclability for their applications in Automotive, it turns out to be a threat for this sector on the long term. The Automotive OEM will naturally favour recycled or recyclable materials. We explained this regulation in composite material suppliers in China supplying to the Automotive industry in vehicle imported in Europe.
